The Good Mommies' Guide to Raising (Almost) Perfect Daughters: 100 Tips on Raising Daughters Everyone Can't Help But Love! - Nonnie Jules Let's just break our daughters down so they can be objects instead of people. Sounds fun. REMEMBER HONEY, YOU'RE USELESS WITHOUT YOUR VIRGINITY! Go find yourself a man to make life decisions for you so I don't have to anymore!(god forbid you be lesbian or trans or gender-queer!)

The only advice you could take from this book is what NOT to do when raising a child, male or female.
He's a Stud, She's a Slut, and 49 Other Double Standards Every Woman Should Know - Jessica Valenti This book get's two stars just for existing. Because--if we're being honest--in this society it is a miracle it manages to do even that.
The Iron King - Julie Kagawa Horrible first few chapters, but it managed to redeem itself more than once. I''ve heard the second book is really bad, but I'll soldier through it.
Fated - Alyson Noel This wasn't for me. The writing wasn't horrible or anything, although it got annoying at times, but it wasn't too bad. I just couldn't stand the characters andd the fact that big events happened 'off-screen.'
Elegantly Wasted (Wasted Series, #1) - C. Elizabeth Vescio I NEED this book. This looks amazing. Plus, that blurb, OMG. A trio of kick-ass, tuff, charming lady assassins who happen to be cousins? Discovering family secrets? WANT.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Stieg Larsson Dnf for now.

I'll try again later.
Charm & Strange - Stephanie Kuehn EDIT:

"The story that was too big for me to tell, the one that grew to fill the depths of my being and the far corners of my mind. It’s how I lost my system of meaning… but I haven’t lost everything."

Wow. This book was not what I expected, not in the least bit. It was darker, it was harsher, and in many ways much more meaningful than I thought it would. I connected with Win and Jordan and Lex in ways I never expected I would. As that night wore on and I learned their secrets and the bits of their stories they decided to share with Win, I just . . . I connected with them. I knew them. Because I am them.

I have been the outsider, the one who feels left out and inadequate. The one who can't always read social situations and makes thing awkward. This book dug up feelings I wasn't expecting to feel. I was really invested in it.

I expected this novel to be a dark urban fantasy. It is not. It is dark contemporary . . . and so much more than that. There are times when you won't understand anything, or anyone, and times when you think 'Ah, I have it all figured out!' Well, guess what: you don't. The big reveal at the end (there were two) just blew my mind. The bridge scene made me cry like a newborn. The other reveal . . . it had me shaking with rage.

If you read this novel, you will be challenged, I'm telling you. At times, being so confused will annoy you. It's worth it, though.. It all comes together in the end to make you just go "Well, holy shit, mind fuck."

The message of this book was pretty clear--to me at least. Sometimes, even when you can't see a reason to live, or to live the way you should, or the way you would be happier--there are people that can see that way for you. There are people, even if you haven't met them yet, that are worth sticking around for. It's a lesson I learned a long time ago, but this book framed it in a new way.

I recommend this book. The plotting is brilliant, the ending revelations are real and true and painful in the most painful of ways. But there is a happy ending in there, somewhere. And there is a message, too. Sometimes life is not happy, and bad things happen to people they shouldn't, and good people do bad things, and bad people disguise themselves as guardians and protectors and teachers. Sometimes the most ugly things and people hide behind a mask of kindness, and the kindest people wear masks of the ugliest variety. And even though there is so much sorrow in the world, there is still happiness. There is still something to do and something to see and people to know. There are still fragments of good hidden inside the bad.

Unteachable - Leah Raeder Perfect cover is perfect.

The Roar - Emma Clayton I read this two years ago, and I remember I was hugely impressed by it. The sheer scope of the novel was amazing, and I loved the twist at the ending because oh boy you knew shit was gonna go down in the second book after that. If I ever wanna read the sequel I'll have to re-read this, but all in all I remember it being good and exciting.
The Waves (The Island, #2) - Jen Minkman YES YES YES YES SO MUCH YES
OMF YES
now I'm really excited.
Tidal - Amanda Hocking Edit: 4.5 holy shit. That was dramatic and nerve racking and jesus christ, Lexi. Can't wait for the fourth book.

Yay, I'm getting a copy of this as part of Saint Martins publicity plan :) Makes me hella happy.
The Madman's Daughter - Megan Shepherd Pretty good writing, and I loved Juliet at the beginning, but I quickly got fed up with her obedience and 'I can't do that because I'm a lady.' attitude around her father and Montgomery. I hated the love triangle, because really it's easy to see she'll end up with Montgomery, and I hated him. I wasn't overly fond of Edward, but still, he's better than fucking Montgomery the douche. I'm not sure if I'll read the sequel.
I Married The Prince Of Darkness - Crystal

It seems that some people think that because they're posting their novels on Wattpad, that they can leave in spelling errors, grammatical errors, and generally just ignore capitalization and punctuation. This book lacks any sense of editing or care. It reads like a bad facebook status.

There's also this blatant glorification of abuse going on here. Most people on Wattpad are really cool, but there is also this big group that likes to glorify the 'alpha' complex, arranged marriages, and abuse. It's horrible. This had a weak heroine, a horrible love interest, and a plot that was bogged down by awful writing.
Writing Magic: Creating Stories that Fly - Gail Carson Levine For a how to write book, this is really funny. And her advice is really good, the whole just get it done and fix it later thing always bears repeating. Fun writing exercises too.
