Tithe - Holly Black This was great.
Tithe is the type of novel I love. I put off reading it for a while, because I had high hopes for Holly Black, and the only thing I've ever read by her is the spiderwick chronicles, which was years ago.

The tone of the book is just so ... gritty and unforgiving and honest. The setting is birliant. The town and forect become a character of their own.
