On my thirteenth birthday, at the height of my 'OMG TWILIGHTZ' phase, I had a twilight birthday cake. Tru facts. It was an ice cream cake with the hands and the apple from the cover. I also got a bunch of twilight related gifts. I'm not even embarassed. (Okay, maybe a little bit.)

"People are not wrong when they point out that Edward’s behavior is the sort of thing teenage girls who are vulnerable, as Bella is, are often drawn to for all the wrong reasons. But the thing that I think is important here is that Bella doesn’t just accept it when he is unfair to her—she tells him off, she demands the truth, she doesn’t accept his excuses. It might be saner and healthier to drop him entirely and tell him to get lost, but there wouldn’t be much of a story to tell if she had—and really, it wouldn’t make sense for her to do that. As obnoxious as he is, he’s not primarily interested in her only so long as she’s willing to pretend that she’s interested in school gossip, school sports, the prom, and other things that she doesn’t really have much emotional energy for. Nor is he making it clear to her that he wants more from her than she really feels willing to give, like her ‘best friend’ Jacob. There is nobody else there for her."

(I first read this in 2008, and if you're wondering, I'm seventeen now, and I've re-read twice since then. Damn time flies.)

I remember I read all of them in two days, and had to wait for breaking dawn. I remember going to the book store to buy the last book, finding it in the YA section, buying like, four books with all my saved up cash, and reading non-stop. And it only continued. I started reading like a mad-person, and to this day all of my extra money goes to books. Of course, now that I'm older, and wiser, I realize that there are books out there that are, well . . . not as good as others. I know twilight isn't the best. At the same time, it really kick-started my reading journey, and I m grateful.

I also think twilight is much better than people give it credit for. It isn't without fault, but I enjoyed the series, I loved it, and that's just my opinion. I wouldn't be a reader without these, and I wouldn't love romance as much as I do.
